Course Overview
The location of underground services course commonly known as the cat and genny training course is for all people who need to be safe locating underground services in the UK. Once the course is completed the candidates will know how to safely use a cable avoidance tool to detect underground services such as: water, electric, gas, fibre and other related services.
Course Content
On completion of the course candidates will know:
- Introduction to the applicable health and safety law
- How to detect live cables
- How to identify different underground services
- Interpretation of service drawings and plans
- How to detect other services underground
Delivery And Outcome
The cat and genny location and avoidance of underground services is a half day course. The cat and genny training comes as an inhouse accreditation or NRSWA streetworks accredited, both options are shown below:
- In-house accreditation: the cat and genny can be used on private sites in the UK and is valid for 3 years
- NRSWA street works accreditation: the cat and genny can be used on public roads in the UK and is valid for 5 years
